9970-QS Quad-Split Video Processor (Multi-viewer) for openGear™ Wins Best of Show
On speaking with end-users and current customers, Cobalt Digital determined a vital need for a multi-featured 3G/HD/SD-SDI Quad Split Video Processor (Multi-viewer). The new Cobalt® 9970-QS integrates four discrete 3G/HD/SD-SDI inputs onto a single 3G/HD/SD-SDI quad-split output, with each input image being correspondingly assigned to a quadrant of the output image area. Each PIP input is provided its independent framesync, allowing asynchronous inputs to be accommodated without external framesync being required. Unlike other quad split units, the 9970-QS per quadrant ARC scaling allows automatic re-aspecting of different aspect ratios to fit perfectly within its PIP quadrant. With easy to configure border set up for each output quadrant.A master output up-down-cross converter scaler provides scale-to SD, HD or 3G SDI formats for the combined quad output.
Timecode can be received and prioritized among any standard SMPTE embedded or audio LTC Timecode, and in turn, can be output and burned-in on the output video. Independently for each PIP, CEA 608/708 closed-captioning from the corresponding input (as well as per-PIP user identity text) can be burned into each PIP output video quadrant.
The 9970-QS is a fully integrated openGear™ card enabling full user DashBoard™ GUI, or OGCP-9000 Remote Control Panel use. In turn offering remote control full status and control access locally or across a standard Ethernet network. Tally can be communicated by GPI, Ethernet or serial interfaces. In consideration of all user and operational requirements, the 9970-QS includes a full range of features offering fully flexible input compatibility with mixed formats on inputs that can be automatically sized and outputted in a combined output scaled to the desired broadcast SD/HD/3G output format. The built-in quad framesync supports asynchronous inputs, full H/V offset control. The framesync can also convert raster format between 29.97/59.94 and 30/60 formats.
The low power and high density design of less than 18 Watts per card enable multiple cards to be installed into the Cobalt Digital HPF-9000 frame.
Both ARC set up and borders are easily configurable along with per-PIP audio meter overlays up to sixteen channel embedded audio.
The unit can provide prioritization for Timecode processing and filter for, convert between specific SMPTE embedded-video or audio LTC, with output/burn-in Timecode using selected format. Also it enables quad independent burn-in Timecode, Closed Caption, user identity text string insertion, and router source.
Border graphic tally indication is provided via GPI, Ethernet and RS-422 tally inputs.
Audio routing directs selected PIP quadrant audio to combined-stream outputs. Downmixed audio is also available.
Outputs from the 9970-QS include two DA of 3G/HD/SD-SDI and HDMI with audio embed, and also four-channel AES audio outputs.
As with all Cobalt Digital manufactured cards and throw-down modules the 9970-QS Quad Split Multi-viewer card has a five year warranty.
The 9970-QS Quad Split Multi-viewer extends the ever growing range of cards for openGear™, providing another quality product for end-users in both production trucks and studio environments. By listening to our customers, Cobalt Digital continue to provide first class quality solutions to meet the challenges of today’s broadcast industry.
