Cobalt Digital has published a paper called “Bit-Rate Evaluation of Compressed HDR Using SL-HDR1” early 2020 to compare the efficiency of different options for distributing HDR content in HDR10 or SL-HDR1.

While the conclusion of this paper clearly highlights the interest of SL-HDR1 for distributing HDR and being compatible with legacy 10-bit SDR devices, some weaknesses in the test configuration used for this report have led to some errors in the reported detailed curves. For this reason, some new measurements have been started and a new report will be published soon with more accurate figures.
